Experience:

News

KLFM Radio

I work here on a permanent freelance basis. I do the drive time shift – writing, researching and scripting the news. Before reading it live for KLFM and pre-recorded for their sister station Star Radio. I keep the website, twitter and facebook pages updated

Touch FM and Rugby FM

I am Touch FM’s official freelance broadcast journalist. I write copy, read bulletins, updated the website, interviewed Councillors, I have attended a high profile court case and beat the rival newspaper to getting the verdict online first.

GEM 106

I was an integral part of the news team covering the Nottingham riots in August 2011. I wrote copy, interviewed people, found a new story whilst out interviewing for another and read bulletins.

Capital FM London

I shadowed the capital london news reader, seeing the use of Burli, helping to choose what stories would go on air and what would not, and noting their fast paced presenting.

Fly FM and Norman Radio Newsreader

I news read for both of the student stations for Nottingham Trent University. This involves sourcing, writing and presenting the news. On Fly FM the bulletins are normally around a minute long without clips and on Norman Radio they are 2 minutes long with clips. For Fly FM I was part of the team covering the Varsity Ice Hockey. I interviewed the Captain for the Trent team mid game.

BBC Radio 5live and BBC Radio 4

I helped interview an anti foxing hunting extremist then choose and edit what would be used on air. I also helped interview a deaf woman which really opened my eyes to the difficulties that reporters can face when getting the perfect interview.

Production

Capital FM London

I worked with the Production team for the Capital Network, creating sponsor tags and promotional jingles. I also worked with the producer of the network shows, making sure that each individual station’s out put was working.

Trent FM 3 month internship(Now Capital East Midlands)

For 3 months I helped plan, structure, produce and create a Nottingham New Music podcast. This involved interviewing bands and working at Nottingham Splendour Festival.

Presenting

Take Over Radio – 106.9 FM – Sutton in Ashfield

I planned and presented my own show on FM for the town of Sutton in Ashfield. I am now their permanent cover presenter

Trent FM (Now Capital East Midlands)

I helped to plan, research and structure several Hit Music Network shows, with many of the presenters from the station.

Presenter on Fly FM and Normal Radio

I have presented on both the student stations, I present weekly on a tuesday 12-1pm on Fly FM. I structure and plan my own show with games to get listeners involved.

Written & Online

Nottingham Evening Post

I worked with the Evening Post gaining several by-lines. I shadowed the editorial team, seeing how articles were changed and why. I also saw how the paper is structured incorporating the advertisements and the articles.
